JCI Surigao North proudly took part in the Mutual Pledge of Support of JCI Surigao Nickel last February 21, 2026 at Philippine Gateway Hotel, Surigao City—a meaningful and symbolic gathering that reinforced the strong relationship between our organization and our father chapter. This event served as a testament to our shared commitment to the JCI mission, strengthening ties through mentorship, collaboration, and a unified vision of developing young leaders to create positive change in our community. The presence of JCI Philippines 2026 National Treasurer Charinna Barro-Quilaneta added inspiration and significance to the occasion, reminding us of the greater purpose we carry as part of a national movement dedicated to service and excellence.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to JCI Surigao Nickel 2026 LO President Jair Balberan for initiating and nurturing this collaboration, guiding us as a true father chapter, and continuously supporting our growth as a local organization.

CI Surigao North celebrates the outstanding students who lead with excellence, purpose, and a heart for community.

JCI Surigao North proudly witnessed the The Outstanding Students of Surigao (TOSS) Awarding Ceremony initiated by JCI Surigao Nickel at the Provincial Convention Center, Surigao City, Surigao del Norte. The event honored exceptional students from different high schools across Surigao del Norte who have demonstrated excellence not only in academics but also in leadership and community involvement—true embodiments of a #JAIRneyBeyond limits and expectations.

As we celebrate these young leaders’ achievements, we are reminded of the vital role of youth in nation-building and the shared responsibility to sustain the future through education, service, and leadership. JCI Surigao North commends this meaningful initiative of our father chapter for inspiring the next generation to rise, lead with purpose, and create lasting impact in our community. Discipline Builds the Leaders of Tomorrow

JCI Surigao North shapes well-rounded leaders through etiquette and protocol training rooted in respect and professionalism.

Excellence begins with discipline.

JCI Surigao North proudly conducted the JCI Etiquette and Protocol Training for Baby Jaycees and regular members last March 22, 2026 at Palma Resort, Brgy. Lipata, Surigao City, guided by our very own 2026 JCI Philippines Northern Mindanao Regional Skills Development Director and 2026 Local Skills Development Director Raxiey G. Adolfo. More than learning proper decorum, this session instilled the values of respect, professionalism, and leadership—equipping every member to confidently move forward in their #JourneyOfServiceAndPurpose.

Legal Literacy Is Women’s Armor

JCI Surigao North and PARO Surigao del Norte unite to equip women with the legal knowledge to stand against harassment and abuse.

P.R.O.F.I.L.E (Professional Readiness, Opportunity, and Female Impact in Leadership and Excellence)

March 30, 2026 – JCI Surigao North, in strategic partnership with the Provincial Agrarian Reform Office (PARO) of Surigao del Norte, successfully convened the Pinay Power: Double A (Anti-Bastos and Anti-VAWC) Forum. This collaborative initiative was designed to strengthen the legal literacy and protection of women within our community.

The forum featured speaker – JCI Surigao North member Atty. Vannessa Compasivo-Geli, CPA, Legal Officer of Surigao Norte State University – Main Campus, whose expert discourse focused on two landmark legislations essential to public safety and gender equality:

• Republic Act No. 9262: The Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004.

• Republic Act No. 11313: The Safe Spaces Act (Bawal Bastos Law).

By facilitating a deeper understanding of these legal frameworks, JCI Surigao North and DAR Surigao del Norte aim to foster an environment where rights are recognized and dignity is upheld. JCI Surigao North believe that an informed citizenry is the first line of defense against injustice and harassment.

This meaningful initiative was further strengthened by the presence and support of dedicated JCI Surigao North members—Dir. Karen, Dir. Zel, and Paul Khalil—whose commitment to service continues to empower communities and champion women’s rights.

Knowledge That Saves Lives

JCI Surigao North joins the earthquake preparedness forum, deepening its commitment to community safety and shared responsibility.

Learning today. Preparing for tomorrow.

JCI Surigao North attended and took part in the “Preparing for the Big Ones: Understanding Earthquake and Earthquake Hazards in Surigao del Norte” Forum last March 24, 2026 at the Philippine Gateway Hotel, Surigao City, represented by 2026 LO Executive Vice President Iris Jane Canoy, alongside members Vergel Aranas and Paul Khalil Dumas.

Through the collaboration of the World Food Programme Philippines and PDRRMO–Surigao del Norte, this initiative convenes stakeholders to advance earthquake preparedness using scientific knowledge and strategic community awareness efforts. The forum created a space for meaningful conversations on earthquake awareness and readiness, bringing together various sectors committed to strengthening community resilience. Through the expertise shared by PHIVOLCS-DOST Geologist Mr. Jeffrey S. Perez, participants gained a deeper understanding of earthquake risks and the simple yet critical steps that can help save lives.

More than just participation, this experience reinforces JCI Surigao North’s role in staying informed and engaged—continuing to support initiatives that promote safety, preparedness, and a culture of shared responsibility within our communities.

Well-Being Is the Foundation of Empowerment

JCI Surigao North and LGU Surigao City unite to celebrate women through movement, wellness, and the spirit of Pinay Power.

True empowerment begins with well-being. This International Women’s Month, JCI Surigao North proudly stood in solidarity with the women of our city to champion health, vitality, and the spirit of sisterhood.

In alignment with the JCI Philippines national program PINAY POWER, JCI Surigao North poured efforts on promoting Women’s Health through active lifestyle initiatives. On March 8, 2026, the streets of Surigao City buzzed with energy during the FUN Walk for Women Empowerment and the high-octane Zumba-Dance Contest.

Led by 2026 LO President Jemima Plaza, and in a dedicated collaboration with the LGU Surigao City and the CSWDO (headed by Lenie Liray, RSW), JCI Surigao North ensured that participants stayed energized and hydrated. JCI Surigao North provided Hydration and Food Station, serving the talented contestants from various Barangay Units who poured their hearts out on the dance floor and the pavement.

Beyond physical health, empowerment is about confidence and self-expression. To recognize the incredible vibrance of our local participants, JCI Surigao North was thrilled to sponsor the Special Individual Awards (Hygiene Kits): Best Stage Expression and Best Groove Award.

For JCI Surigao North, March 8 is more than a date on the calendar—it is a reminder of our enduring commitment to honoring women. We remain steadfast in advancing women’s interests, ensuring that health and fitness remain a priority for every Surigaonon woman.

When women are healthy and supported, the entire community rises.

Breaking Barriers: Committing to Safe Spaces in Male-Dominated Workplaces | Tarpaulin Hanging and the Signing of the Safe Spaces Pledge to end Gender-Based Sexual Harassment

In celebration of the 2026 National Women’s Month through JCI Philippines Pinay Power National Program Initiative, JCI Surigao North proudly carried out a meaningful initiative led by our 2026 Local Community Director Project Chairperson, Atty. Princess Jezrael Frondozo, together with 2026 VP for Business Kizelle Kate T. Canoy, 2026 Director for Retention and Membership Benefits Karen Almedilla, 2026 VP for Community Charis May Guerra, and Auditor Jiezel Claire Eder. Through the ceremonial tarpaulin hanging and the signing of the Safe Spaces Pledge, the organization reaffirmed its strong commitment to ending Gender-Based Sexual Harassment. This activity intentionally engaged the General Services Office (GSO) and the City Engineering Office—two workplaces where male representation is dominant—highlighting the importance of inclusive participation in building safer and more respectful environments for everyone.

This initiative stands as a testament to what collective action can achieve. With the support and proactive commitment of the employees who took the pledge, we move one step closer to creating workplaces where safety, dignity, and respect are upheld as everyday standards. JCI Surigao North remains steadfast in its mission to empower communities and advocate for gender equality, ensuring that safe spaces are not merely concepts, but lived realities for all.
