JCI Week 2024: Day 6

Day 6: Career Talks (Year 2): Dream Big, Plan Smart: Navigating Educational & Career Opportunities in Science and Technology

JCI Surigao North, in collaboration with JCI Surigao Wensie, JCI Surigao Nickel, Department of Science and Technology (DOST), and Local Youth Development Office-Surigao City, successfully conducted the 2nd installment of its highly anticipated Career Talks event.
Scheduled as part of the 2024 JCI Week celebration, under the theme “Lead to Serve, Make a Difference,” the event welcomed fifty-two (52) Grade 11 Senior High School students coming from the DepEd Surigao del Norte and Surigao City Divisions.
The Career Talks aim to inspire and motivate the youth to pursue careers in science and technology by showcasing the opportunities, success stories, and potential impact they can achieve in these fields; inform and educate participants about the various educational pathways, scholarship programs, and career opportunities available in science and technology to empower participants to make informed decisions about their educational and career trajectories; and facilitate networking opportunities and mentorship connections between participants and established professionals to foster meaningful relationships and provide valuable guidance, support, and mentorship as they navigate their educational and career journeys.
This initiative underscores JCI Surigao North’s commitment to nurturing the leadership potential of young individuals and creating positive change within communities.

JCI Week 2024: Day 5

Day 5: Green Project & JCI Project Exhibit

𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 – JCI Surigao North, led by LO Project Chairperson Kenn Edgar Parojinog, and JCI Surigao Nickel spearheaded the “Green Project” initiative and donated garbage bins to Brgy. Taft and Brgy. Washington, Surigao City in support of Republic Act 9003 (Ecological Solid Waste Management Act). The bins, made from recycled materials, will be strategically placed along the City Boulevard and near popular street food stalls behind NEMCO to promote cleaner public spaces.
During the turnover, 2024 JCI Surigao North President Eric Libay emphasized the organization’s commitment to combating plastic pollution. This initiative, launched in celebration of JCI Week 2024, aligns with JCI Philippines’ 76th Anniversary theme, “Lead to Serve.”
This collaborative effort demonstrates the importance of partnerships in addressing environmental challenges and encourages the community to actively participate in creating a cleaner environment. Officials from both barangays expressed their gratitude and support for the project.
𝐉𝐂𝐈 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐄𝐱𝐡𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐭 – One JCI Surigao would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Mayor Paul Dumlao of Surigao City for allowing the 3 JCI Surigao Local Organizations to showcase our projects on the city’s Led Wall. This generous act has provided us with a unique platform to share our initiatives and inspire our community. Mayor Dumlao’s unwavering support has been instrumental in our efforts to effect positive change and his belief in our mission has been a significant boost to our endeavors. Day 4: The Games Continue

Day 4 marks the halfway point of this exciting week-long event. The atmosphere is buzzing with anticipation as the games continue to unfold. As we approach the culmination day on April 20th, the excitement intensifies, and everyone eagerly awaits to see who will emerge as the champions and receive the well-deserved awards. It’s a testament to the hard work and dedication of all the participants, and we can’t wait to witness the thrilling conclusion of JCI Week. See you! 🔥

JCI Week 2024: Day3

Day 3: Beyond Prison Walls

April 16, 2024, Day 3 of JCI Week, JCI Surigao North led by 2024 LO President Eric M. Libay with JCI Week PC Aizel Arne Divinagracia, launched the one of the flagship projects of JCI Philippines “Beyond Prison Walls” with LO Project Chairperson Jeizel Claire Eder. This collaborative effort between JCI Surigao North, JCI Surigao Nickel, and JCI Surigao Wensie aimed to make a difference in the lives of the underprivileged: distributed 39 hygiene kits and medicines for 29 Senior Citizen PDLs. The project also offered free services, including legal counseling, haircuts for 50 individuals, and free medical check-ups.
This project would not be possible without the help of the following: Attorneys from PAO – Atty. Daisy Mae Luinor A. Labastida-Salvador, Atty. Blenda Czarinne R. Dela Merced, Atty. Menchie V. Dumagan-Compe, Atty. Vals Lisondra and our very own 2024 LO Legal Counsel Atty. Princess Jezrael A. Frondozo; Dr. Luis Paolo C. De los Reyes; and the gents’ hairdressers – Aldiver Enale and Richard Morandante. We express our deepest gratitude for standing behind us in this endeavor.
The day was a testament to our commitment to community service and making a positive impact. It was a day of giving, caring, and reminding everyone that we rise by lifting others. 🤝

Day 2: JCI Surigao Chapters Sports Fest

JCI Surigao North had an incredible Day 2 of JCI Week 2024 with the opening games of JCI Surigao Chapters Sports Fest. The event was a perfect blend of excitement, athleticism, and camaraderie as JCI members and participants from different JCI Surigao Local Organizations gathered to showcase their skills and sportsmanship. From thrilling basketball matches to intense pickleball, badminton and table tennis showdowns, the energy was intense. 🔥

Day 1: Thanksgiving Mass and Run Your Raise: Virtual Fun Run

Together with JCI Surigao Nickel and JCI Surigao Wensie, the first day of JCI Week 2024 was an exhilarating start to a week filled with unity and purpose. The day began with a heartfelt Thanksgiving Mass at San Vicente Ferrer Parish, Brgy. San Juan, Surigao City, where members from all three JCI Surigao Local Organizations gathered to express their gratitude and appreciation. It was a moment of reflection and togetherness, reminding us of the importance of coming together as a community.
The excitement continued in the afternoon with the Run Your Raise: Virtual Fun Run, a National Fundraising Project. Participants from JCI Surigao North, JCI Surigao Nickel, and JCI Surigao Wensie joined forces, to raise funds for a worthy cause. The virtual format allowed JCI members from all over the country to participate, fostering a sense of national unity and camaraderie. It was a testament to the power of collective action and the impact we can make when we work together towards a common goal.
Day 1 of JCI Week 2024 set the stage for an incredible week ahead. The events of the day showcased the dedication and passion of JCI members in Surigao and beyond. The momentum from the meeting carried forward as JCI Surigao North members led by 2024 LO President Eric M. Libay together with 2024 Deputy Secretary Aizel Arne Divinagracia, also the Project Chairperson for JCI Week, initiated detailed planning phases for the most-awaited week long celebration and for the entire April events.

Local Youth Development Council Election Unites Young Leaders; JCI Presidents Show Support for Youth Empowerment

March 13, 2024, the Local Youth Development Office conducted an election with representatives from different youth and youth-serving organizations to form a group of empowered young leaders. The Local Youth Development Council stands ready to inspire, innovate, and ignite positive change within our community.
Our very own 2024 LO President Eric Libay together with JCI Surigao Nickel 2024 LO President John Lester Fetalvero attended the said election as representatives under the Active Citizenship category and showed their unwavering support for our youth. Their presence speaks volumes about our commitment to empowering the next generation of leaders. It was inspiring to see the community come together to support our youth in their journey towards leadership and empowerment.
